two things...

dear blog,

so, two things.

one: my entire family is gone this week, minus my dad and myself. the last of them left this morning, and i already feel so lonely in this house all by my lonesome. mom and rich are in california, maddie's at basketball camp in st. george, and nickie and carly are at girl's camp. and dad doesn't usually get home from work until 7 or later. sigh. oh well.

two: in twelve days, i will be in mexico!!! i can NOT even wait. except i really can. i'm kind of nervous about all of the spanish speaking and taking classes and such. but otherwise, i am UBER excited. my study abroad to guadalajara got cancelled for spring term, but they rescheduled for summer!!! instead of guadalajara we are going to merida (accent on the e) which is a hundred times better (minus the fact that it is more expensive.) guadalajara is a huge city with normal things to do, but merida is a smaller city with ruins around, its closer to the beach and our group will be more than half as small as before! plus, because i didn't go before, i got to say goodbye to my grandma and such. also, it is cheaper to fly in and out of cancun and then take a bus, so me and a bunch of other kids are staying in cancun for 3 or 4 days after to just play on the beach and such! it is so perfect. 12 days though, i have so much to prepare! i guess its a good thing no one is here to get in my way.

sigh.

funny how life goes on, huh?

rochelle

betty jean

Dear grandma,

you died.
last week.

you had been sick for quite a long time with just about every ailment you could think of. last summer when you almost died, and it was so dreadful! but this time, it was not really dreadful at all. it was so interesting. the whole time we were with her in the hospital with you, and even after you passed, i have never really felt anxious. obviously, i have felt sad that you won't be around for the rest of my mortal life, but i feel like this has been an opportunity to grow closer to my family more than anything. there were so many tender moments in the hospital of husband comforting wife, sibling comforting sibling, child comforting parent. it was so special! i honestly wouldn't trade the experience of being there for that for anything.

anyways, grandma you are a magnificent woman. i love how you would always tell us stories and tell us how wonderful we are and you always made me feel so good!

grandma, just know that i am so grateful for your wonderful example and i hope that one day i can be as virtuous and worthy as you were in your earthly life.

i love you grandma!

love,
your favorite granddaughter
rochelle
p.s. grandma, i miss you already!

what do women want?

dear blog,

tonight i went to levi's "house" and watched "what women want."
first of all, that title has a lot of w's-- kudos.
secondly, i found myself thinking the entire time about how i actually am a woman, and i don't even know what i want. plus, on a regular basis, i get frustrated by other females in my life, who also are confused by what they actually want. the fact that they (meaning movie makers) thought that they could channel womankind's disires at all, let alone into one man in such a short amount of time, for some reason, just really bugged me. i hate it when people try to understand un-understandable things. especially when people think they can understand me, and i don't even understand myself. who do they think they are anyways. i think what bugs me about it is that they are usually right.

sigh.
oh well.

on a more positive note, mel gibson is pretty cute though, yeah?

love,
rochelle
p.s. blog, i'm pretty sure i am back to myself, i mean, i still am disappointed, but i don't cry everyday anymore, and i am happy, (well, as happy as can be expected)... yay me.

i cried so much my head hurts.

dear blog,

today i cried. a lot.
i cried at grandma's house.
i cried in the car.
i cried in the car again.
i cried in the car the whole way home, actually.
i cried in my room.

then i sat in my bed and ate peanut m&m's and watched movies about how people's dreams actually come true. movies where people actually fall in love. movies about how people go places. places that aren't provo.
and i may or may not have cried again.

then, i went running, well, jogging is more like what i actually did...endorphins are good. at least i did one good thing today.

meh,
rochelle

i hate the swine flu/my life.

dear blog,

the whole time i was thinking "seriously? this is too good to be true!" ever since mid november i have been looking forward to the opportunity of a lifetime (for me). i have been planning to study abroad in guadalajara mexico. and this was not just any study abroad. this was PERFECT. the next level of spanish i needed. the right price. volunteering and side trips included. and it all seemed to just fall into place. i fell in love with the idea of this, and then yesterday, everything that i have been planning for and been looking forward to for the last 5 months = down the drain. why you ask? well... they cancelled the entire program due to the outbreak of the swine flu in mexico.

WHY?????

how is this even fair? everyone it seems gets their own perfect lives (granted, with minor slip ups). they get opportunities. they have cute boys that like them. they have stamps in their passport. their parents have a job.
i just feel so

heartbroken.

seriously. i have never felt quite this way before. i am so so so so so disappointed.
i even had my bags all packed.
yeah, i get my money back, but frankly, i don't even care right now.

whatever. story of my life.

now, i am in California without a return ticket, because i was going to go to mexico from here... but now im not. so... i don't have a job, a plan, or anything to do really. its horrible. i hate not knowing.

on the positive side, i went to california adventure today! and tomorrow i'm going to disneyland! and i'm at ellen's right now! and i get to see my family!
i keep trying really hard to focus on the positives, which really are awesome, but all i can think about is what im missing out on. (the above exclamation points are all a lie. )

and to add insult to injury... i'm pretty sure that i can't go TWO SECONDS without someone mentioning the FREAKING SWINE FLU.

my life sucks,
rochelle

p.s. blog, sorry that this post is such a downer... but that's just how i feel. when i found out yesterday, i cried the whole day, and i was so depressed that i took a five hour nap.
